HUD To Offer $17 Milion For Low-Income Housing For Seniors
July 11, 2008
The U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced Tuesday it will make a combined $17 million in pre-development grants available to 30 states to help with construction of critically needed low-income housing projects for seniors.
"This funding will help organizations cope with the complexities of developing vitally important elderly housing projects in their communities," said HUD Secretary Steve Preston. "These funds can make all the difference between these senior housing developments getting built or not. In many respects, it’s our way of investing in our elderly just as they devoted so much of themselves to us."
California is set to receive roughly $1.6 million in pre-development grant funds for various low-income housing projects across the state.
