(NAPSI)-There is good news for consumers who prefer to use energy-efficient products in their homes. The new QDE series of under-cabinet range hoods from Broan® are the first ENERGY STAR qualified range hoods to be introduced to the U.S.

According to ENERGY STAR, installing adequate ventilation helps alleviate common household problems, control moisture and remove odors. ENERGY STAR qualified kitchen range hoods provide energy savings and are significantly quieter than standard models.

With the QDE series, it’s estimated that consumers can save a total of 564 kilowatt hours compared to an equivalent model featuring halogen lights.

According to Brian Wellnitz, marketing manager, kitchen ventilation, Broan-NuTone, the QDE series is perfect for those who want maximum energy savings without sacrificing style. He says the series meets all requirements for the three major green building programs.

Rigorously tested, certified by the Home Ventilating Institute (HVI) and ENERGY STAR qualified, the QDE series features an energy-efficient 280 CFM blower that is controlled by a two-speed rocker switch and is said to be extremely quiet, operating at only 0.9 sones on normal (low) speed.

For added savings, the QDE series features compact fluorescent 13-watt light bulbs that last on average 10,000 hours (five times longer than regular incandescent light bulbs).

Consumers will appreciate the QDE series’ sleek contemporary design that makes it easy to clean and install.
