Cirque du Soleil Corteo January 11-February 3
The creative minds of Cirque du Soleil have succeeded in making a funeral, of all things, a festive event! The touring show, Corteo, premieres in San Diego on January 11, 2008 for a limited engagement under the trademark blue-and-yellow big top at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. La Jolla Motor Car Classic Show January 13
One-of-a-kind classic automobiles will be on display at this car show located at La Jolla Cove. KCA Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration March January 15
After speeches from honored guests and a reading of the "Dream Speech", students from the King-Chavez Academies school will sing and march in honor and remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the ideals he stood for. All Star Music Fest January 18-20
Haven Entertainment in cooperation with Smooth Jazz 98.1 KIFM Radio announces the 2008 ALL STAR MUSIC FESTIVAL January 18-20, 2008 in San Diego. This festival crosses multiple genres including Contemporary & Nu-jazz, Soul, R&B, Funk, Contemporary Pop and World Fusion. Following the three-day festival, fans will board the 2008 All Star Jazz Cruise to continue their musical journey for five nights at sea. The 2008 All Star Smooth Jazz Cruise is hosted by Grammy-award winning artist, Norman Brown, and features Nick Colionne, Jam Sessions Host and Boney James, as well as a host of contemporary jazz and R&B superstars. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade January 19
A parade will be held in honor and remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who strived to achieve peace between all races of people. The parade consists of marching bands, marching units, floats, and drill teams. It’s purpose is to promote cultural pride and social harmony among communities. 10:00am - 2:30pm. Flower Show (Orchids) January 19-20
A flower show in Balboa Park will display beautiful and exquisite orchids. Orchids are a three-pedal flower with the middle pedal enlarged into a lip and differing from the others in shape and color.
