A Home Upgrade That Counts
November 13, 2007
Upgrading your kitchen counter tops is one of the best investments you can make to your home as well as the overall value for years to come.
The cabinets may be the face of the kitchen but the countertops are where all the action is. A countertop will have to deal with hot pots & pans, knives, dirt – therefore, it needs to be durable. There are more options than ever in kitchen surfaces, with the current biggest trend now is stone. There are almost limitless choices in stone, all of them are known to be extremely durable and that they can take a lot of abuse.
Engineered Stone is a combination of the durability of granite with all the colors of the palette of solid surfacing. This can be a good choice for homeowners who want the look of natural stone. There are many color options and many price ranges. It is a distinctive look – it may not be for everyone, but again, it is known to be structurally and aesthetically predictable. It is also known to be stain and scratch resistant, not bothered by heat, coffee, citrus juices and vinegar.
Natural Stone, including top of the line granite as well as marble, limestone and slate – they all make a great statement of style. It took, is available in many colors, finishes and textures. It fits into most any design. While granite is known to be heat and stain resistant the marble and limestone my show stains and scratches. Marble is better off used in an area with less wear and tear.
If you are considering an upgrade – these are all worth your time to check-out.
