Many of the top women tennis players in the world will be competing in San Diego during the 2007 Acura Classic, taking place at the beautiful La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad (2191 Costa Del Mar Rd.) CIRCUS VARGAS     August 2-6

Come and enjoy the excitement of a circus with illustrious human and animal stars rendering artistic triumphs and thrilling exploits. SCREEN ON THE GREEN HOUSE OF WAX     August 2

A large outdoor screen will be set up at Balboa Park where you can lie on the grass and watch the movie, “House of Wax”. This 1953 film features a sculptored wax figure who is horrified when his partner proposes to set fire to the unpopular museum to collect the insurance money. 8:00pm - 10:00pm. BALBOA BOOGIE 8-MILE & 3-MILE RUNS     August 4

Are you ready to get some exercise? Then come to Balboa Park where you can choose between an 8-mile run or a 3-mile run. S.D. SURF CUP XXVII SOCCER TOURNAMENT     August 4-9

This national premier youth soccer tournament is one of the two top youth soccer tournaments in the United States. Participating teams (age 9-18) will come from as many as 25 States and other countries such as Canada, Mexico, England, Ireland, and Japan to compete for the coveted Surf Cup Trophy. 8:00am - 8:00pm. 18TH ANNUAL CLAIREMONT FAMILY DAYS     August 4

The community of South Clairemount will host a family festival with entertaining activities for all ages. Highlights include staged music, carnival rides, games, food, arts & crafts; plus a terrific hot rod car show. A family-oriented multicultural festival will be saluting many facets of diversity within the 4th District of San Diego. BUDDHIST TEMPLE OF SAN DIEGO “FESTIVAL OF JOY”     August 4

 The Buddhist Temple of San Diego is hosting a festival as part of the “Obon” Buddhist holiday celebrating the lives of ancestors. The celebration consists of dancing traditional Japanese folk dances in a large circle under lanterns with music and Taiko drumming. Delicious food will be available. 5:00pm - 9:00pm.
