Tax Preparation Checklist

Owning a home can be a great tax shelter.  Many times the interest paid to the lender and the property taxes can be deducted on one’s personal income tax filing.  However, there are many other items you will want to consider.  Of course, this is not meant to give tax advice, you should always consult with your CPA or tax preparer to decide if this is possible for you.  Here are several items to help you with your preparation in filing your Personal Tax Return.

Part 2 - EMPLOYMENT & INFORMATION
* W-2 forms for this year
* Unemployment compensation: Forms 1099-G
* Miscellaneous income including rent:  Forms 1099-MISC
* Partnership, S Corporation, and trust income Schedules K-1
* Pensions and annuities: Forms 1099-R
* Social Security/RR1 benefits:  Forms RRB-1099
* Alimony received
* Jury Duty Pay
* Gambling and lottery winnings
* Prizes and awards
* Scholarships and fellowships
* State and local income tax refunds:  Form 1099-G
