LESS GAS - MORE HOUSE

Date October 31, 2006

An interesting article I read this past week shows that a recent study conducted by the Brookings Institute and the Center for Trans-Oriented Development discovered that for every $10,000.00 a family saves in annual transportation costs - it results in an additional $100,000.00 of purchasing power toward buying a home.  The study found that the average family spends nearly 20 percent of its budget on transportation costs.  The study also said that these results were even based on gasoline prices that were at less than $3.00 per gallon.
